What is your most important advice to those who want a higher level of quality in their images?

- I think everyone has a different view of a high quality picture. I rate the emotion in a photo higher than technique. I look at a photo and decide very quickly whether I like it or not.

Of course the correct use of light is very important, but in the end you should ask yourself whether the photo inspires you. If not, it can be helpful to ask yourself what is missing in this photo and what style of photography you are aiming for.

Compare a photo that you are aiming for with one of your own photos. Try to find out what differentiates them e.g. Focal length, aperture, light, mood, post production, framing or the characteristics of the model.

One thing is creativity and execution of good pictures, but what is important if you are going to be able to make photos a livelihood?

- I think living from photography is not as easy as many people imagine. You should have a good business plan. A clear idea of what you can do very well and, more importantly, of what you cannot.

It makes a big difference whether you plan to make money with product photography, fashion, weddings or artistic portraits. Very often, coincidence, self-marketing and hard work also play a very important role. But in the end hard work is the key.

What or who is your biggest inspiration?

- I don't have a single source of inspiration. I think many things in my life inspire me. Of course, I spend a lot of time in photography. But also a movie or especially music can have an inspiring effect. It is a very large and interesting area.

Sometimes an encounter with a special person inspires me. People who are different, think differently, are particularly creative and show me other ways.

Sometimes I am simply inspired by a sunbeam that breaks in the glass and casts a shadow play on a wall. You have to go through life with open senses.
